Located just north of Coffs Harbour on the Pacific Highway, ‘The Big Banana’ is always a favourite stopping place with people of all ages, with fun recreational activites, a variety of food experiences and several retail outlets.
This 40 year old giant structure modeled on a prize winning banana is probably the most photographed object in Australia. At any time of the day cameras are clicking away – individuals, couples, honeymooners, small groups, families, whole coach loads of people – all recording their visit to The Big Banana.
For visitors with limited time, a short climb up the BIG BANANA SKYWALK’, an elevated walkway through the banana plantation, provides access to COFF’S COAST LOOKOUT, offers spectacular views over Coffs Harbour City Centre, the hinterland and the Pacific coastline from Smokey Cape in the south to the Solitary Island’s Marine Park in the north. Between July and October the annual migration of the whales can be viewed from the LOOKOUT. This facility is FREE of CHARGE.
Thrill seekers are also catered for at The Big Banana – a half kilometre downhill TOBOGGAN RIDE – a guaranteed adrenalin rush and fun for all the family. Ice Skating is also available at the BIG BANANA ICE RINK. TRIKE RIDES are now operating in a huge 3 wheeler motorbike and can carry up to three people. They are suitable for all ages from kids to grannies.
‘The Big Banana’ is a family place with something for everyone.
